1968

In 1968, The Beatles had a notable and tumultuous year both musically and personally. They released “The Beatles” (commonly known as the White Album): This double album was released on 22 Nov and featured a diverse range of musical styles, showcasing the individual songwriting talents of each band member. The minimalist, all-white cover became iconic and reflected the band’s shift towards a more eclectic and experimental sound.

1968 marked a period of diversity in the Beatles’ styles as they embraced the countercultural and psychedelic influences of the time. They experimented with flamboyant and colourful outfits, including psychedelic patterns, fringe, and Eastern-inspired clothing. This was particularly evident during the filming of the “Mad Day Out” photo session in July, where the Beatles were photographed wearing a variety of bold and unconventional outfits against the backdrop of London.
